Modigliani's Reclining Nude, 1917

The blog header contains a depiction of the truly marvelous work of art, by the very great artist Amedeo Modigliani, entitled Reclining Nude, 1917. I have chosen to share this beautiful picture here because I have long been an admirer of the artist's work.

In this particular piece, I love the warmth and the sensuality and the sheer human tangibility, and the utterly superb, masterly execution of the painting by the confident, mature artist. And there is, I feel, a wonderful sense of freedom, openness and longing in the attitude of the subject. A truly beautiful and moving work.

For me, this painting, like so much of Modigliani's art, is a powerful inspiration for my own artistic endeavours in my writing; and so I thought it a wholly fitting picture to share with you in the header here at my blog. I truly hope it gives you as much pleasure as it does me.
